Brought to you by AZ e-lite, Light Up with LED!

We are pleased to bring you the first issue of AZ e-lite Green Tips newsletter. Sustainable living doesn't mean giving up all the luxuries of the modern era and changing the lifestyle completely.
It's rather adapting to green living and become environmentally aware. If you are new to the idea of sustainable living, start with things you can do easily.  There are numerous green tips that don't involve a lot of effort, time or money.

Simple Green Tips to Kick-Start Your Sustainable Living:

  • Switch off appliances at the power point. Leaving them in "standby mode" is a waste of electricity. Eliminating this standby electricity could save around 10% on your electricity bills.
  • Buy appliances with eco labels that indicate the energy consumption of these products.
  • Air Conditioner: Set the thermostat to about 25 degree Celsius. Clean the air filters regularly and service your air-con annually. Set the timer to switch off your air-con after some hours of usage. Where possible, use a fan instead to keep you cool.
  • Refrigerator: Bring hot food to room temperatures before putting it into the fridge. Ensure that there is space for airflow near the compressor and condenser coils. Buy a fridge with the smallest model to suit your needs and choose one with the energy efficient eco label.
  • Computer: Keep the monitor and the computer switched off when you are not using them. Consider switching from desktop computer to laptop as the latter consumes as much as 50% less energy. For additional savings, enable the sleep mode on your laptop after 5 minutes of inactivity. If you have a desktop computer with a CRT monitor, consider replacing it with a LCD monitor which uses up to 75% less energy.
  • Light Bulbs: As a power-saving measure, start using the LED light bulbs as much as you can. If you are thinking they are more expensive than the regular bulbs, the benefits of the LED bulbs will prove much more cost-effective in the long turn by the amount of power they will save. Check out the LED lights offered by AZ e-lite to see what suits your needs.
  • Washing Machines: Minimize the number of washes by washing full load of clothes every time.
  • Television: Take off the power plug of your TV when not using it. LED-backlit LCDs are the most efficient type of flat-panel TV available today, consuming 3 times less energy than plasma TV and 30% less than LCD. LED TV can also use various dimming technologies that turn down either the entire backlight or independent sections, both of which save power.
